The first North Wales Coast Express of 2009, ran on Sunday 2nd August 2009 with LMS Coronation Pacific 6233 Duchess of Sutherland. She is seen here at Llandudno Junction, during a waterstop on the run to Holyhead. The train was originally intended to call at Llandudno itself, but the length of the train (12 carriages and West Coast Railway's 47245) put paid to the plan. |
After a two week break (the August 9th run was cancelled due to LMS 46115 Scots Guardsman being elsewhere), normal service was resumed on Sunday 16th August 2009. LMS 4-6-2 number 6201 Princess Elizabeth speeds through Lea Green station on time, with the outward run of the North Wales Coast Express. |
Sunday 23rd August 2009 saw LMS Coronation 4-6-2 number 6233 Duchess of Sutherland work the last North Wales Coast Express for 2009 (the 30th August run was cancelled). She is seen here passing Lea Green Road, on the outward journey towards Holyhead. West Coast Railway's 57601 was ticking away on the rear. |
